Hawaii Photography Tours Features Michael and CreationScape

I am always honored and never take lightly when someone recognizes the hard work that goes into my images. Hawaii Photography Tours just added me as a Featured Photographer on their homepage and I'm super stoked!  Chris Rose and Hawaii Photography Tours are absolutely amazing for what they provide for photographers here in Hawaii and I couldn't be more honored to be interviewed by them.

MOODY CATHEDRALS // want to send out prayers and love to all the people affected by the unprecedented flooding on the beautiful island of Kauai. May you find grace and strength during this time of rebuilding. BRACE YOURSELF // shot on @GoPro using my @Knektusa and @litragear combo. GASP // Since sea turtles are air breathing reptiles, they need to surface in order to breathe. Sea turtles can hold their breath for several hours, depending upon the level of activity. A resting or sleeping turtle can remain underwater for 4-7 hours. Recent research has shown that some turtles can even hibernate in the sea for several months! However, a stressed turtle, entangled in fishing gear for instance, quickly uses up oxygen stored within its body and may drown within minutes. This particular Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle swam right up to me today and took a breath right next to my camera. I think he wanted to check himself out in the reflection of my housing. OVERCAST // on dark and dreary days when it's stormy and the sun never appears... it creates a very special mood underwater. Even though the water is murky and visibility is low, these guys are always enjoying themselves. I'm super blessed to be able to experience what it's like in the pod no matter what the conditions are. LONG SHADOWS BONDING // a mother and her baby boy spend precious moments together in the calm, blue pacific.
UNDER THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS // {A juvenile humpback whale swims underneath it’s mother, rubbing up against her and feeling the comfort of knowing it’s protected with love.} It’s hard to describe what it’s like to be merely feet away from one of the largest animals on earth and hear them breathing and singing right next to you. For them to float and dance just below in an endless blue, roll over and make eye contact and be so gentle and commanding at the same time… it’s just hard to put into words. A huge thank you to my friend @dshormann for allowing me to tag along as an explorer with childlike wonder. It’s an honor to share these days with you. Happy Easter! NOT IMPRESSED // this Hawaiian green turtle won every match of our staring contest. Happy #internationalwomensday ! TEACHING&LEARNING SUPER BLUE // an amazing Super Blue Blood Moon rises over Hawaii.
CASCADE // A sure sign that a humpback whale is about to make a dive is when you see it’s tail fluke go straight up in the air. When adult humpbacks dive, they usually stay under for 7-20 minutes and can reach depths of over 650 feet or 200 meters. The tail fluke is likened to that of a human’s fingerprint. Each tail fluke is uniquely different and can be used to identify individual whales. They have many different black and white pattern or solid variations and the serrated ridges alone the fluke’s edges are also used as identifiers. * Side note- The area that connects a humpback’s tail fluke to it’s body is called a “Peduncle” :) // I absolutely love how this shot came out with the beautiful waterfall cascading off the fluke.
